What's next for the future of music?

It is an interesting question and I've come up with a possibly far fetched theory but interesting none the less. There are microscopes in science, we can create artificial eyes (also known as cameras), so who is to say that in the future there will not be some kind of device that will allow the human ear to hear a higher range of sound frequencies. For those of us who aren't too familiar with the "science" if you like of music  here it is. Basically an instrument of some kind will create vibrations which will travel through the air. These vibrations cause the very tiny hairs of the human ear to stimulate and thus sending a signal to our brain which we perceive to be music.  (or sound doesn't have to be tonal to hear sound)

However there is a limitation to the level of frequencies that our ears can hear. When I mean the frequencies that our ears  basically what I am referring to is how high a note in music is. The higher the frequency, the higher the note. When the frequency becomes too high,  which is roughly 20 000 Hertz (Hertz = the number of vibrations per second) our ears and brain can't hear a sound.

Sound still exists though. How do we know this? It is because of animals (and computers also).
Ever heard of a dog whistle. A silent whistle to humans because the frequency of the whistle is too high for our ears to comprehend but a dog's ears are much different they can detect anywhere up to 60 000 Hertz. Another interesting example is the "mosquito ringtone". It is a ringtone that emits a very high frequency that children can hear but adults cannot. Theoretically it would work because the frequency range of the human ear becomes less sensitive as you get older. Therefore a child could hear the higher sound the adult couldn't. Which means that you can have it as your ringtone and hear it in class on your phone with out the teacher actually hearing. So if you want to download it kiddies just go here.

So why would I be telling you all of this. How does this really relate to the future of music. Well as you can clearly see from the picture above the range of the human ear is quite small compared to other animals. For me this says that there is so much more music, sound and beauty in this world. We just can't hear it. I like to believe that we can tap into these sounds and that one day we will be able to put on a hearing device and be able to hear everything that there is to hear in the world. The musical possibilities could be virtually endless. Perhaps we could even have a greater understanding of animals. Did microscopic organisms and bacteria not exist just because our eyes couldn't see them? No. So who is to say that there isn't more music out there. We just can't hear it.
